Taylor Swift has been one of the most successful pop and country stars of the past decade. Her career started at a young age and she has gone on to become the first woman to win three of the highest honors in music. She was named Entertainer of the Year at the ACM Awards in 2012. Her fourth studio album “Red” released in 2012 is a departure from her pop-inspired work and features bold pop-rock sounds. Several of her songs have been nominated for the Song of the Year awards.
At age nine, Taylor Swift developed an interest in musical theatre and began taking vocal lessons in New York City. When she was fourteen, she signed with Sony/ATV music publishing and became the youngest artist to have a record deal with the label. In a bid to re-ignite her career, she left the Sony/ATV house to join the fledgling Big Machine label.
Big Machine Records was formed by Scott Borchetta, a former record executive at Dreamworks Records, and the new company required Swift to sign a new contract. The two got into a dispute over ownership of the masters, which was eventually settled for $300 million. While Swift was still a member of the label, her third album Folklore earned her a third Grammy award, this time for Album of the Year. This was the first time a woman has won Album of the Year three times.
As a teenager, Swift had an early taste of musical theater, appearing in Berks Youth Theatre Academy productions of “Grease” and “Annie”. She also traveled to New York for acting classes and vocal lessons, and studied at the Aron Academy in Nashville. After deciding to pursue a career in music, she moved with her family to Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Swift had a memorable cameo in New Girl in 2013. Two of her songs were featured on the Hannah Montana soundtrack, and she won a Golden Globe for her performance of “Beautiful Ghosts”.
Taylor Swift has also worked on several movie projects. She voiced Audrey in The Lorax and was part of the cast in the Disney Channel movie Cats. She also wrote a song for the The Hunger Games soundtrack. One of her singles, “Both of Us,” was featured on the BoB compilation CD.
Since the release of her self-titled album, Taylor Swift has released four more singles. Her music has appeared on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and her videos have been nominated for many awards. On the heels of her success, she launched her own perfume line.
During her teen years, Taylor Swift became increasingly interested in country music. She performed at concerts in Nashville, Tennessee. During the summer, she spent time at the Jersey shore with her family. Eventually, she and her parents decided to move to the city, where she could be near the music industry.
Taylor Swift’s debut album, titled “Taylor Swift,” was released in October 2006. Its lead single, “Speak Now,” was nominated for Best Country Song at the 54th Grammy Awards.
