Taylor Swift was born on December 13, 1989 in West Reading, Pennsylvania and is a famous singer-songwriter. She is best known for her debut album ‘Taylor Swift’ and her second album ‘Fearless’ which were both very successful. She has also won many awards including several Grammys and American Music Awards.

Her father, Scott, is a stockbroker and her mother, Andrea, is a homemaker. She has an older brother, Austin, who is an actor.

When Taylor was nine years old she began taking vocal and acting lessons in New York City and eventually decided to pursue a career in music. She started to write songs and was signed to Sony/ATV Music Publishing. She is one of the youngest songwriters ever to sign with a major publishing company.

She moved to Nashville, Tennessee when she was 14 to pursue a country music career. She quickly developed a fan base in the Nashville area and has since sold millions of records worldwide.

The singer’s earliest musical influences were Shania Twain and Faith Hill. She learned to play guitar, piano and ukulele at an early age. She also had a passion for English horse riding.

During her childhood, she attended Berks Youth Theatre Academy and performed in musicals such as “Grease”, “Annie” and “Bye Bye Birdie”. She began to take singing lessons at the age of twelve and soon moved to Nashville to study with a local singing teacher.

After completing her studies she went on to sign a recording contract with Big Machine Records and released her self-titled debut album in 2006. It was the first ever studio recording by an African-American artist and it has since gone on to sell over 7.75 million copies worldwide.

Her third studio album, ‘Speak Now’, was released in 2010 and it became a huge success. It sold over 1 million copies in its first week and had three songs in the top 100 of the billboards at the same time.

Another big hit from her third album ‘Speak Now’ was the single ‘Love Story’. It was a hit in both the country and pop markets and won her multiple awards.

It was also her first song to reach the number one spot on the country charts. The song won the Grammy for best country song in 2010.

She then released her fourth studio album, ‘Red’, in 2012. It was her most commercially successful studio album and it was nominated for five Grammys.

The album’s lead single ‘Shake It Off’ was a smash hit and it was nominated for two more Grammys. It was also her first single to reach the number one position on the Billboard Hot 100 and it has remained on the list for eleven non-consecutive weeks.

On February 7, 2020, it was announced that she was releasing her eighth studio album ‘folklore’ in July of the same year. It was produced by long-time musical partner Jack Antonoff and included collaborations with Aaron Dessner, The National and Bon Iver.
