Originally from West Reading, Pennsylvania, Swift relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, at age 14 and signed a recording contract with Big Machine Records. She later signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV.

She released her debut album, Taylor Swift, in 2006. It was a major success and sold over 7.75 million copies worldwide. Her second album, Fearless, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. It was followed by Speak Now (2010) and Red (2012).

The following years marked her transition to a more artistically driven style of songwriting. She incorporated folk music into her songs and experimented with genres including pop, rock, and country. She also wrote for several film soundtracks, such as The Hunger Games and Fifty Shades of Grey.

In 2020, Swift dropped a surprise record entitled ‘Folklore’ which kicked off a new introspective and narrative style of songwriting. She continued to collaborate with various artists, notably Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff.

As a result, her work was much more personal and emotionally evocative than previous albums. She drew upon her experiences as a teenager to write songs about love, relationships and life.

Her debut album, ‘Taylor Swift’ was released in 2006. It reached the top of the Billboard charts and sold over 7.75 million copies worldwide. It was a major success and was the first album by a female artist to top both the singles and albums charts simultaneously.

She also won the award for Best Music Video at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, and she received an Academy of Country Music nomination.

It was also the first album to have a song reach the top of the Hot 100 and the top 10 of the Billboard 200 in the same year, establishing Swift as a major force in the music industry. It became her most successful album to date, earning her five Grammy Awards and becoming the best-selling country music album of all time.

When she launched her ‘Reputation’ tour in 2018, Swift set the world’s record for most concerts sold at a venue, and broke records for gross and attendance. She also became the highest-grossing female artist at a single concert venue.

The album reached the top of the charts and was also the first female artist to sell over a million records in a single day. It was also the best-selling album of the year, and the most-streamed on Spotify in a single day.

She has a knack for writing songs about love and relationships that are deeply personal and emotional, but she doesn’t shy away from making it all the more funny too. Her most recent track, “Look What You Made Me Do,” was a smash hit and ranked as the best-selling country song of all time.
