At age 9, Taylor Alison Swift began taking vocal and acting lessons in New York City and also worked on a Christmas tree farm with her parents. She developed a love for country music, inspired by Shania Twain and Faith Hill. Swift started to win local talent contests and eventually performed at a Charlie Daniels amphitheater.

The album was recorded in isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic and features a range of genres, with contributions from Jack Antonoff, Aaron Dessner and Bon Iver. It became the world’s best-selling album of 2019, with Swift becoming the first female artist to have eight consecutive albums top the charts. It won multiple accolades and was the most-awarded album of the year by a female artist. This was followed by a worldwide tour.
